Zander Nappibul
Being from a small town, the size of the community that NWP has amassed is of somewhat unfamiliarity to my experiences; however, I am always yearning to learn, grow, and bring about positive change in any sort of scenario, or environment. Throughout my middle school, and high school years, I actively participated in student leadership, becoming one of the leading faces of my high school's leadership group. Though I never sought to be the face of the leadership group, it was something that just naturally occurred, as I am quite a social individual, so I talked to everybody. Thus, if anyone had a question for our student leadership, they would often come to me, as I was a person of familiarity, despite being a member who solely organized events behind the scene. My main contribution was advertising for our school events, as I would film and edit promotional videos and skits, which were usually well received (of course you cannot please everyone). Some other notable achievements that I must say, which allow me to feel proud here and there, is being the record holding fundraiser for the Terry Fox Campaign, and graduating from my school as the voted student of the year. Honestly, I won student of the year not because of my participation in leadership, it is honestly because I just got around the school getting to know everyone day in and day out, allowing for a community atmosphere to thribe a little bit in a somewhat clicky, small town school. Plus, my sick arse car gave me brownie points. Honestly, I am just an average person like everyone else who engages in life, community, work, school, hobbies, music, cussing, eating... and so on. Who knows... perhaps that relatability is what might make me suited for this position. I'm not some super high divine exemplary student, I'd be properly representative of the students I seek to represent, just an average everyday Joe going to college.

Megan Morrison
My name is Megan and I am currently in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. I am an artist and a great enjoyer of the arts, physical, digital, theatre and anything else. I hope being on the council will allow me to bring voice to the slowly declining arts program in this school and shine a light on what is possible through the Students Association in bringing this art to the masses. I am quiet but also very opinionated and like to debate and bring new ideas to the group. As a member of the student council I will bring a voice to my fellow classmates in the Arts and Theatre programs, and seek to bring new fun and educational events to campus with their ideas. Being a first year I am very excited to be included in the community of NWP and want to be heard in my community, as every first year student feels in this new environment. I bring new eyes on campus and will elaborate the struggles and obstacles I and others face in our first year.
Students Council Candidate
Cecily Phelps
Hello NWP student council! My name is Cecily Phelps. This is my first year at NWP and I’m very much hoping to be a part of the student council. I believe that kindness and dependability are the most important factors when going about day to day life, and if I were to be a part of council, I would exercise this belief into everything I do. I like to be a known presence and I want the people around me to know that I’m someone they can come to for help or guidance no matter the circumstances. My main goal on council would be to pull together the student body as a whole and create a fun and welcoming community where everyone feels safe to be themselves. Since 2020, I have felt that people have been missing experiences and longing for social existence. With college, even though we are adults, school life is hard,so social events are important to both have fun and let off steam. I want to help others in finding their sense of fun and meaning through mixers and events put on by council. Volunteering and being a part of the community is very important to me and in how I present myself to people everyday. I want to project friendliness towards others and make the effort to spread joy to the people around me. If I were to be on the student council, I would take my responsibilities seriously while sharing happiness as I go.

Kanin Boese
Hello NWPSA members, my name is Kanin. I am a first year student in the education/kinesiology transfer program. So far, NWP has been great; I have had the privilege to meet some great people in the short weeks I’ve been here. As a former member of my high school student council at St. Joes, I understand the significance and impact that a school’s student council can have on both the student body and the overall school community. It was through my past experiences through that club where I developed the passion for making a positive difference in the lives of my classmates and peers around the school.
One of the main reasons I am interested in joining the student council at NWP is the chance to improve the college, by paying attention to all the issues and suggestions from students and acting accordingly to make the best of the situation. I have seen firsthand during my time at St. Joes, how being a part of this club has helped myself and others develop essential skills, such as communication and teamwork to accommodate other students’ suggestions and concerns. I continue to use those skills that the club has taught me in my daily life and it was a great experience to watch the younger members of that club acquire those essential skills necessary for a successful club.
Another reason why I am interested in joining the student council is for the opportunity to actively engage with the school community and support its success. Members of the student council have an incredible opportunity to shape the culture and spirit of the school, through the awesome events planned. They actively contribute to the attempt to build a diverse and engaging school environment.
My prior involvement and experiences in the St. Joes’ student council has had a significant impact on myself and how interested I am in joining the NWP student council. I am looking to join this team, in an attempt to support my peers and contribute to the success of this campus community as a whole. I am excited about the potential of continuing my journey in student leadership and making a difference in the lives of my fellow students, for the better.

Deep Singh
My name is Deep Singh, and I'm excited to present myself as a new member of our college's community, specifically from the department of computer science. Being present and having the chance to stand in for you in the next student election is an honor. Despite the fact that I'm new to our school, I'm incredibly excited to contribute to the vibrant student life at our collage. I'm enthusiastic to pick up knowledge from everyone of you and to leave a lasting impression while I'm here. As a student, I am aware of the value of a strong sense of community and support in overcoming the obstacles presented by our demanding curriculum. If elected, I will place a high priority on developing study groups and peer mentoring initiatives to aid in our academic success. I'll collaborate closely with the department as well.

Student council is about representing the students of the school. I am someone who has relationships with lots of different types of students as well as people outside of the college. I make relationships easily and get along with everyone. I aspire to make the college experience easier and more comfortable for future students.
I have many goals in life. I am studying to become a child life specialist at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. With this I intend to make the children’s and their family’s stay in the hospital as best as it can be. I want to make their experience better and help them understand what is going on. I also plan on helping out with different charities and organizations such as Make A Wish, the Ronald Mcdonald house and the Salvation army, as well as others. I am also planning on adopting children when I am in the financial position to do so.
There is a strong history of volunteering in my past. When I was in elementary and junior high school I would volunteer in the library to put books away or in the office to roll change or make ice bags for injuries. As I grew up, I helped out with a local charity called the 3D charity Hockey and Soccer tournament selling tickets for their games. I have also helped with another local charity, Fight for Hope, for this one I appeared on the pregame hockey show to advocate for their cause and tell everyone how they had helped me as well as my family. I have also volunteered for the library helping run an intergenerational game night for people of all ages. The most recent thing I volunteer for is at the Veterans Memorial Garden, I help run their events and help with upkeep of the gardens.
When it comes to diversity, I have met many people from different aspects of the world. Because of St. Jude I have met people from Africa, India, England, etc. I have also met many people with different disabilities such as some people who were blind, deaf, had learning disabilities, etc. I also have tunnel vision, and have some learning disabilities myself. I am friends with people of indigenous culture as well and enjoy learning and participating in their ways. I believe that I would be a great representative of the students because I have met a large group of diverse people.
In conclusion I have confidence that I would be a proficient representative of the student body. I have met many different people from all walks of life. I have helped out in many different scenarios and hope this experience will help me to complete my goals in the future. I am a promising candidate for the student council and I hope you feel the same.

More About Student Council!
How many seats are available to represent each campus?
There are 9 councilors in total. We strive to have voices across a variety of our student body. While there is a dedicated Fairview representative, other Fairview students are encouraged to run for this seat or one of the other seats they may be eligible for.

Due to the population per campus, the majority of seats must be from Grande Prairie.
